Objectives The major objectives of the project is constructing a theme park to demonstrate losses due to Gorkha Earthquake for future generation: More specifically, this is research project that focuses on: Constructing a memorial park in name of departed souls. Plant and grow one tree in name of one departed soul. Construct smaller models of heritage sites describing the damage that occurred Establish a learning center and museum presenting major disasters in Nepal. Background
• 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Gorkha, Nepal on 25th April 2015 at Gorkha, Nepal.
• 8,956 people lost their life including Nepalese and Foreigner.
• Most of National Heritage Sites are completely damaged.

Objectives

Implementation Strategy
• Youth’s UNESCCO Club will implement the pre- construction and construction phase with support from Youth Federation of Nepal.
• Youth Federation Nepal will manage post-construction and operational phases.
• Implementation of Project involves experts from Youth’s UNESCO Club/Youth Federation Nepal, Family member of departed ones, Local youth clubs and concerned Government line agencies

Beneficiaries
• Demonstrating loss from disaster will provide a lesson for upcoming generations
• In addition, planting trees in name of departed ones will provide relief for family members.
• It shall be a learning center to understand loss of lives and heritage sites for everyone.
• Memorial park will be a center for Biodiversity, Employment and Revenue Generation.

Implementing Organization
• Youth’s UNESCO Club shall be responsible in coordinating and implementation for all activities for the project.
Institutional Partners• Implementation of the proposal will require
additional partners other than local bodies like metropolitan city from:– Youth Federation Nepal – Family members of departed souls – Government of Nepal

Duration & Timeframe
• Duration of the project will be 2 years. • Earlier 6 months in research for land selection, Project
planning and preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR)• Next 6 months for construction of physical
Infrastructure • Plantation of trees will be done after construction of
physical infrastructure.• At the end of the 2nd year, the park will be open for
everyone

Overall Budgets
• Overall budget for the implementation for proposal is estimated to be 205,000 USD including all kinds of lab test implementation works as presented below:

Monitoring and reporting Modalities
• Youth’s UNESCO Club shall establish internal monitoring mechanism to ensure project is moving on good track.
• If project is seen to be deviated, internal mechanism will alert and find any faults.
• Internal monitoring mechanism team will submit its regular progress to partner organization in bi-monthly basis.
