I. RATIONALE
Christmas is fast approaching and once again we are going to celebrate the birth of oursavior Jesus Christ. But we sometimes forget the real meaning of Christmas. We fail torealize that Christmas is also for the poor. Hence, in this years Christmas festivalcelebration, we need to rediscover the real meaning of Christmas through closeinteraction with the children, particularly those from the Davao Boys Town (Welfare
Action Foundation of Davao, Inc.).
II. OBJECTIVES
This years Christmas festival celebration aims to:
inculcate among the Holy Crossians the real meaning of Christmas; instill the values of love and joy among the students; and develop the students/pupils sense of sharing.
III. LINE-UP OF ACTIVITIES
1.) Belen Making Contest.See attachment A for the mechanics.
2.) Paskwela (Regalong Pang-eskwela sa Pasko). Thestudents/pupils from Kinder up to Fourth Year will bring school suppliesparticularly assigned to them (See attachment B). The school supplies shall beplaced inside a big box specifically provided for them. Then, they will be givento a charitable institution that caters school children.
3.) My Sis/Bro for a Day. Fifteen Children aged twelve years old from the
Boys Town will be invited to come and celebrate with us during the Christmasfestival. Afterwards, selected sections from the Grade 6 up to the Fourth Yearshall entertain the children in their classroom Christmas party. It is up to theclass what to give the child and how to make him happy even just for a day.
4.) Parlor Games. To be prepared by the HSSG and GCC officers.

A.MECHANICS FOR THE BELEN-MAKING CONTEST
1. The contest is open to the High School Level and Grade School Level of the BasicEducation Department.
2. The contest is divided into three categories:
a. Kinder - Grade 3b. Grade 4 - Grade 6c. Grade 7 - Fourth Year
3. There should be one (1) entry per grade level.
4. Entries must not exceed one (1) meter in all its dimensions (length, width, &height), but must not be less than half a meter.
5. Entries should make use of recycled materials like plastic bottles, newspapers,
aluminium cans, egg tray, and other indigenous materials.
6. The construction of the belen should be as follows:
a. Kinder-Grade 3: Teacher-Advisers as well as parents may assist the pupilsin the construction of the belen.
b. Grade 4-Fourth Year: Belen should be solely constructed by the pupils andstudents, although Teacher-Advisers may give verbal instructions to them.
7. Three of the best belen per category will be chosen by judges based on thefollowing criteria:
30% - Construction(15% for durability and stability; 15% for craftsmanship)
30% - Appearance
(10% for use of surroundings in consideration of design and visibility;20% for formal design)
40% - Originality(20% for innovation on traditional belen format; 20% for approach totheme)
8. The entries should be placed at the Students Lounge (near the computer lab.),
the designated display area, on December 16, 2014.
9. The judges will rate the entries on December 18 (Thursday).
10.Winners from each category will receive the following prizes:
1stPrize - certificate and Php 1,000.00 cash2ndPrize - certificate and Php 500.00 cash3rdPrize - certificate and Php 250.00 cash
11.Winners will be awarded on December 19 during the Christmas Festivalcelebration.
