GREAT STRIDES: May and September: GREAT STRIDES is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest fund-raising event. It provides opportunities for all people within a local community to get involved forming teams through their workplace, through clubs and organizations or with friends and family. Walk day is a fun, family-oriented celebration that includes a healthy walk, family-related activities, food, and festivities that participants look forward to year after year. The Rainbow Chapter sponsors walks in northern Ohio at Ashtabula, Canton, Cleveland, Lake County, Akron, Willard and Youngstown. Students may form a team by recruiting friends and family to raise money, which is then turned in on walk day. 2009 dates TBD, please check the website in the fall.

CUREFINDERS: Fundraising by participating in the CFF CureFinders program: CureFinders is the CF Foundation's school fund-raising program for grades K through 12. CureFinders provides students with the opportunity to compete with one another to see who can raise the most money in their school to help support CF research and care. "Change for a Cure," "Jar Wars," and "Pin-ups" are several of the fun activities this program offers to help classes achieve their fund-raising goals. At each participating school, the class that raises the most money will receive a free lunch that is delivered to their classroom!

Senior Project Opportunities: None. Special Requirements and/or Training: None. Donations Needed: Since ninety cents of every dollar goes towards funding research for a cure, we would be grateful to accept whatever donations people/businesses might be willing to offer (office supplies, lightly used office furniture, beverage/food items to be used at our events).

Donations Needed: THI has many needs that can be filled by donations, either new or old. Most women come to THI with only the clothes on their back. Because the majority of their units are efficiencies, they have a continual need for household items. Most of the women take these items when they leave to start their new homes. Computers are used by the women to practice work skills and for use in school, and are also a great addition to a new home when a participant is reunited with her children. A complete list of needed items is available at the THI website under “Wish List.”
