Classification System of at risk species● Extinct – no longer living

● Examples: Dodo, dinosaurs, quagga, tasmanian tiger and labrador duck

● Endangered – almost extinct in all parts of the world● Examples: Northern right whale, amur leopard and Javan

● Extirpated – no longer living in a certain area, but found in other parts of the world

● Examples – Grey whale, black-footed ferret and the grizzly bear

● Threatened – population numbers are becoming VERY low around the world

● Examples – Pallid bat, beluga whale and grey fox

● Vulnerable – population #'s are starting to get low● Examples – Java sparrow, dugong and mouflon
