Civilian Pilot Training Fall 2012 Inspired by the same fundamental heritage and Americana influences, which make up the DNA of Cockpit USA, official suppliers to the U.S. Government and craftsmen of the finest, genuine aviation and military apparel, the Civilian Pilot Training line is a modern take and expansion on these known and loved classic traditions. Showcasing modern interpretations of Cockpit USA's iconic jacket collection, the brand new counterpart pays homage to the un-funded flight program established in 1939, responsible for transforming thousands of youth into pilots before WWII at universities throughout the United States. The very first Civilian Pilot Training Fall 2012 collection combines Cockpit’s great USA Made workmanship with first-rate fabrics and a contemporary angle to produce an astonishing menswear line. Shirting is impeccably tailored from mélange, wool serge, and corduroy fabrics in a variety of rich, autumnal hued plaids and checks and all featuring the Tactical Shirt System, a signature aspect of the collection. Elevated from the realms of conventionality, every shirt in the line comprises an assortment of functional elements derived from authentic military specifications, but reintroduced with relevance to today’s world. What appears to be a standard collar conceals a wealth of facets including the collar stay sheaf which transform day shirts into dress shirts, throat latches, specifically located buttons allowing multiple ways of wear, military olive with orange ticking stripe tape which functions as a tie keeper and are all finished with a single antique brass grommet on the left collar. Knits come in the form of tweed cardigans, heavy duty hooded sweaters, v-neck zip ups and cotton waffle textures in ecru, charcoal grey, brown, and black. Basic cotton slub v-necks, henleys and pullover hoodies featuring jersey knit lining are offered in stone washed gray and blue. Not to be outdone, the collection’s statement pieces include the workman over shirts with elbow patches and battered leather collars, put through unique washes and wax coated to create a vintage and rugged labor aesthetic. The collection is completed with a faultless array of outerwear. Heavy rubber finished cotton parkas are designed with interchangeable and removable quilted liners while iconic motocross and flight jacket silhouettes are offered in sleek horsehide and plush calfskins, with a select few styles vegged, drummed and washed with stones to create an unmatched antique look unique to Cockpit USA.
