CURRICULUM CHANGESCivil Engineering

A few changes were made to the structural engineering courses in the Civil Engineering curriculum which will take effect starting next fall (2010).

Undergraduate courses which will no longer be offered: CE2201 - Structural Engineering I CE3201 - Structural Engineering II CE4211 – Reinforced Concrete Design CE4221 - Structural Steel Design CE4231 – Timber and Masonry Design

New updated undergraduate courses: CE3202 – Structural Analysis (Replacing CE2201) CE4213 – Reinforced Concrete Design (Students can choose between CE4213 and CE4223 to replace CE3201)CE4223 – Structural Steel Design (Students can choose between CE4213 and CE4223 to replace CE3201) CE4233 – Structural Timber Design Students who have not taken either CE2201 or CE3201 will replace CE2201 with CE3202 and then will go on to CE4213 or CE4223 (replacing CE3201) to complete the required structures sequence. CE3202 is a 3-credit course and CE4213 & CE4223 are both 4 credits.

NEW NOTE: Students who will be taking the new 4000 structures course (CE4213 or CE4223) in place of CE3201, which is on the current flowchart, can replace a regular professional elective in place of the “CE Prof. Elective w/ Design” in the senior year. The 4000 level structures course eliminates the need for a professional elective course with design.

CURRICULUM CHANGESEnvironmental Engineering

Course prefix changes The environmental engineering courses are currently “CE” but starting next fall the “CE” will become “ENVE”.

When searching for courses on the “Schedule of Classes” website in Banweb, students will need to select ”Environmental Engineering” to show the list of environmental engineering courses.

Environmental engineering students need to be aware that there are still a few courses that will still be “CE” since there are courses both civil & environmental engineering students take such as CE3331 (Professional Practice), CE3620 (Water Resources Engineering), CE3810 (Soil Mechanics) and Senior Design.
