Consolidated Syllabus
Two-year M.A. (Political Science)
[2018-19]
Course Structure
Outlines (As per University Ordinance):
• The two year program will be divided in to four semester of six month of each.
• The whole program is of 98 credits
• There will be three types of course:
1. Core Course (CC) (Exclusive for students of Political Science)
2. Generic Elective Course (GEC) (offered to other departments)
3. Discipline Centric Elective Courses (DCEC) (offered to the Political Science
students and other departments)
• Skill Enhancement Elective Course (SEEC) will be offered in Semester four as a
compulsory, qualifying non credit course (Exclusively for Political Science students)
• For the two year program minimum 18 credits from the elective courses (of which at least
6 credit shall be from elective course offered by other departments).
• A student shall register for a minimum of 20 credits and can register for a maximum of 30
credits in a semester.
• Sessional evaluation shall be done on a continuous basis, taking into account the student’s
class performance, fulfillment of home assignments at the compulsory Sessional tests.
• Sessional Test 1 shall be held during the sixth week of the semester for the syllabi covered
till then.
• Sessional Test 2 shall be held during the twelfth week for the syllabi covered between
seventh and twelfth week.
• 1 credit = 1 hour of instruction per week
