that represent parts of the cellNucleus, Golgi Bodies, Mitochondria,

Endoplasmic Reticulum, and Lysosomes

Pieces are floating in corn syrup Cytoplasm

TODAY… We will become a factory that produces

cupcakes We will take the jobs in the factory and

relate them to the parts of the cell

You each will be given a job to perform in the factory

As I read the directions out, act on them according to your job in the factory….

OUTSIDE PERSON

oDeliver the ingredients to security.

SECURITY

oCheck the ingredients.

TRANSPORT

oTake the ingredients to storage.

PRESIDENT

oGive the order to make cupcakes.

PRESIDENT

oTell managers to begin assembly.

MANAGERS

oInform assembly line to begin production of the cupcakes.

TRANSPORToMove some materials (Legos) from storage to assembly line.

TRANSPORT

oMove some materials (tinfoil) from storage to packaging.

GENERATOR/FURNACE

oProvide power to assembly line (Shine flashlight on assemblers)

ASSEMBLY LINEoAttach the cupcake (1 pink Lego) and the Icing (1 other colored Legos)

oRemove any other Legos and set them aside.

TRANSPORToTake assembled cupcakes to the packaging department.

CUSTODIANS

Sweep up extra Legos and place

them in the trash.

PACKAGING AND DISTRIBUTIONoWrap up cupcakes in aluminum foil and place them in a cardboard box.

oProvide power for packaging (Shine light on packers)

PACKAGING

oTake finished product to security for shipment.

SECURITY

oInspect the package and allow it to leave the factory.

OUSIDE PERSON

oPick up the package.
