China’s Booming Children's Books Market
China Children's Press maintained a double-digit
growth 17 consecutive years. From 2014 to 2017, the
average sales growth of children's books is above 50%,
which is no doubt the one of the fastest growth in the
world.(1)
At present, China has ranked second in the world with
12% of the children's book market share, only 1.9% less
than US; and 476,000 kinds of children's books have
surpassed the US, ranking first in the world.
With the implementation of the second child policy, the
purchasing power of parents after 85's and 90's, the
development of the whole children's education and the
market for children's training, etc., all indicate that
children's books will have greater development in the
Chinese book market. (3)
Children's books accounted for the overall market size,
increasing from 23.29% in 2016 to 24.64% in 2017. It is
the largest segment of the retail market. In 2017, it still
achieved a high growth rate with a year-on-year growth
rate of 21.18%, significantly higher than the overall
market growth rate. (4)
The travel rate is growing, and people's consumption concepts
and patterns has been transformed and upgraded. Personalized
travel will become the mainstream. In the meantime, with the
improvement of the demographic structure and citizen overall
income, the recreation facility industry is very promising,
especially the community facilities.⑹
According to the data of China commercial industry research
institute, by the end of 2016, the amount of companies doing
business related to recreation facilities was up to 105, and total
sales revenue is 18.53 billion, YOY 31.58%.⑺
