ForewordA warm welcome to the inaugural
Castlerock Mussenden FestivalWe look forward to welcoming both locals and visitors alike to Castlerock from 5th - 7th July 2013 for the Castlerock Mussenden Festival, where a great line up of events await you. There will be something for everyone - musical entertain-ment, there will be a variety of superb foods on offer, family fun, sports, arts and learning experience. Musicians, sportsmen, artists, writers, all at the top of their game, will gather together to entertain and educate. The fun will ramp up on Friday, to get the festival spirit underway. Saturday will be the ‘big day’ with the Party on the Prom and the Big Beach Party. Sunday will be a chance to wind down, with some chilled out sessions during the afternoon. All of this taking place in our beautiful seaside village, situated on the scenic Causeway Coast. All in all, an exciting range of festival events not to be missed.
The story so far...What began several years ago as a husband and wife team organising a village get-together to switch on the Christmas lights in Castlerock has evolved and grown, with the help of good friends, to the formation of the Castlerock Business Consortium (CBC!). The idea is simple, we want to help put our beautiful village on the map and celebrate all that is great about Castlerock and the surrounding area. To date, we’ve hosted the 2012 Olympic Street Party, Christmas Fairs and the 2013 Hoedown. We now look forward to and eagerly anticipate our first summer festival. We chose the Mussenden name to repre-sent the festival as the Mussenden Temple is such an iconic and much loved part of our landscape. It was built by the 4th Earl of Bristol, Frederick Hervey, a man with a reputation as a bit of an eccentric - we hope he would have approved.
To all who are fortunate to live or holiday in Castlerock and to those visitors who will join us for the weekend, maybe for the first time, we know that you will take away some great memories of our festival weekend. We hope that you will join with us to make this festival a success and one of many. A big thank you to all the people and organisations who have contributed, supported and helped host this festival. Here’s to the future! Let the summer (whatever the weather) begin...
