Year 6 into 7 Transition Day—What a great day!
The future Year 7 2017 had a great day at
Wauchope High School on Wednesday
meeting their Year Advisors; Mrs James and
Mrs Jensen affectionately known as the
‘Double J’s’.
The students had fun exploring the Agricultural
farm, trying a Maths quiz, a Music class, a
Science experiment , Aboriginal painting,
African drumming and a Drama class, all this
followed by a sausage sizzle. And then a show
bag to take home...how much fun can a student
have in one day?
Mrs James and Mrs Jensen look forward to
welcoming Year 7 students and their parents on
Orientation Day 6th December. Details to follow.
How lucky are Year 7 to have such lovely people as
their Year Advisors, Mrs Jensen has already picked her outfit for their Year 12 Formal in 2022!

Science students in years
8 and 9 have been
experimenting with the
construction of steam
turbines. A group of students
in Year 8 including Corey,
Jarren and Holly are
engineers in the making.
They constructed a Steam
Turbine with outstanding proficiency. The Steam Turbine worked through the use of
heat energy from the Bunsen Burner to generate steam to mechanically turn the
turbine blades. These students used inventive strategies to create a functional
Steam Turbine.
Under 14’s Cricket
Wauchope high defeated
Westport in Round 1 of the
NAB Shield, played at
Ladrigan Park this week.
Wauchope batted first and
made 156, nearly lasting the
40 overs. Corey, Zarn and
Wayde were the leading
contributors.
Westport fell well short of the target, with wickets shared between Hayden, Jack,
Corey and Lincoln.
The boys now play Camden Haven in Round 2.

Japanese Drumming
On Monday 17th October students from year 8 participated in a Japanese
Drumming workshop. Sensei Kiyomi lead the students in a traditional drumming
activity which required students to exercise their skills in watching, listening and
teamwork. Students had to keep the beat as they moved around the circle and
changing drums. Chloe proved to be the strongest drummer on the day leading by
example and following all instructions!
