•Promotion & Outreach – specialized agency is appointed to prepare promotional material and conduct outreach/awareness programs engaging citizens

•Station Area Access Plan Study – PCMC has appointed expert agency for conducting accessibility plan for each BRT Station along NH (Mumbai-Pune Highway) BRT Corridor

•Parking Policy – Consultants have been appointed for the study and is under preparation

•Safety Audit – PCMC has conducted safety audit for the NH BRT Corridor by renowned field expert. PCMC is also in process to identify major issues and address them in near future before commencing BRT operations on the corridor.

BRT System will be introduced with a new name ‘Rainbow’ which has been finalized by PMPML Board of Directors

In addition to the above, other measures to be adopted are:

System Maps at Stations & Terminals for Passenger ConvenienceUnique design Staff UniformsDedicated Website for BRTTraffic Wardens to manage Junctions Traffic Signal Systems incorporating BRT Priority Security inside BRT stations

Technology Aid in Operations Management

•The operations of BRT System in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad shall be monitored by use of available technology

•The management will be controlled by BRT Cell of PMPML

•PMPML has invited bids for implementing comprehensive ITMS System

•The service provider is expected to be on-board two months from now

The ITMS project consists of:•Real Time Passenger Information within Bus, at Bus Stations and Terminals•Bus Tracking in Control Center•Depot Management System•Vehicle Schedule and Dispatch System•Asset Inventory Management•Incident Management System •Automatic Fare Collection System •Financial Management

BRT Operations, Route Rationalization and Feeder Services

Bus Operations: Public Transport Operations in Cities of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad are catered by PMPML (a Ltd. Company under State Government). PMPML plans to operate hired buses on BRT Corridors for ease of operations & maintenance

Route Rationalization: The study has been accomplished for rationalization of current route structure. The adaption plan is ready and implementation shall be phased out in near future.

BRT Cell: The BRT Cell within PMPML shall consists of experienced professional staff for various jobs hired especially for BRT Operations. The process of hiring is under progress.

Driver Training: One Round of driver training has already been completed for safe driving techniques. Training for BRT Operations is to commence soon.
