BUMPER STICKER PHILOSOPHY

What do each of the following bumper stickers say about

the owner of the car?

Mr. Shiftlet is very proud of his car and wants to decorate it with a bumper sticker. Your job is to design the perfect one for him. Remember that a bumper sticker presents an image to the world. What would Mr. Shiftlet want to say to the world? You can approach this one of two ways:

Look back through the story at the things he says about life. What attitudes does he hold? What is his view of the world? What could you say on a bumper sticker that would reflect his attitude?

- or -

Look back through the story at the things he says about himself. What image does he present to others? What could you say in a bumper sticker that would depict the image he would want to display?

After you have drawn and decorated your bumper sticker, write three sentences on the back explaining your choice. Are you presenting Shiftlet’s attitude or his false image? What part of the story influenced you to make this bumper sticker?
