Slieve Gullion Mountain is the centrepiece of the craggy heather covered ring dyke in South Armagh known as the Ring of Gullion. Slieve Gullion rises to 573m and enjoys an association with Myths and Legends. The area has a wealth of Megalithic and early Christian monuments, the summit of Slieve Gullion boasts the highest surviving passage tomb inIreland-theCailleachBearaHousethatislinkedwith the witch that is said to have tricked Finn McCool to bathe in the Lake transforming him into an old withered man, although she was forced to restore his youth, his hair remained white and this fate is said to befall anyone who bathes in the lake.
