Mostpowerplantsemployextensivepre-screeningatcoolingwaterintakes.Despitethis,additionalfiltrationcanberequiredatlocationswherethecoolingwaterisloadedwithheavydebrisandmarinelife.BrackettGreen®debrisfiltersprovideavitallineofdefense,efficientlyinterceptingandremovingcoarseparticles,fibrousmaterial,mussels,clamsandothermacrofoulingrelatedtoproblemsdownstreamofpumps.

TheBrackettGreendebrisfilter’shousingactuallyreplacesasegmentofthecoolingwaterpipework,requiringnoadditionalspaceorconnections.Thefiltrationmechanismisdesignedtoremovecoarseaswellasfibrousdebrisincludingplastic,mussels,clams,fish,treeroots,seaweed,algae,rocks,woodchips,pineconesandleaves.

BrackettGreendebrisfilterscontinuouslyandautomaticallyremovesuspendedsolidsfromcoolingwaterthatmightotherwiseclogtheheatexchangerandcondensertubes.

1.InletwaterenterstheBrackettGreendebrisfilterscreeningelement.Varioustypesofdebris(includingcoarseandfibrousdebris)arecollectedoverthefilterscreeningelement.Screenelementsareavailableinavarietyofshapesandsizes(round,slot,orsquare).

2.Auniquelyengineeredrotorwithseveralsuctionpartsishousedwithinthefilter.Therotorisdesignedforhighvolumedebrisremovalofalltypesandsizes,withtheminimumofcoolingwaterdischargedaswaste.Therotorisoperatedbyanelectricmotor.

3.Asdebrisaccumulates,differentialpressureacrossthescreenismonitored.Ifthepressuredropsbelownormal,therotorbeginstorotatewhiledebrisdischargeisopenedtoalowerpressuredischargepoint.Sincethepressureinsidethedebrisfilterhousingishigherthanthatatthedebrisdischargepoint,thepressureonthecleansideoftheelementwillpushdebrisintotherotorevacuationchamberwhiletherotoristurning.Debrisisvacuumedoffthefilterelement.

4.Oncethefilterelementiscleaned,therotorwillstopandthedebrisdischargevalvewillclose.
