GOALS OF THE YE PROGRAMME:

Creating awareness of different social issues

Exposure of urban youth to the diverse poverty-related challenges faced in rural areas

Transforming youth into agents of change

Promoting personal growth

Age 0-14 years: 34.3% of population

High youth dependency increasing burden on governments,

communities and families

World population getting older, but youth dependency

increasing in Bangladesh

Engagement necessary to reduce the burden

IMPORTANCE OF YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

TARGET GROUP: Upper-middle class high school students (9th-10th graders).

Leadership Conference

BRAC Club Chapters

• Responsible for organizing the Young Leaders Conference

• Provide institutional support to BRAC Chapters in schools

• Advocate the addition of community service components to the high school curriculum

• Creation of a Youth Engagement website

Acts as a central portal for youth looking for information on how to get involved

Database of community projects (not necessarily BRAC related)

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

Focus: Leadership in Development

Location: TARC Dinajpur

Activities: Debates, field visits, seminars, lectures and workshops

Outcome is required to obtain participation certificate
