Dear Friends,
This holiday season, we are especially grateful for the
support of friends like YOU, who care and generously
contribute to the Club and families we serve.
Forty-five families were supported this season through
our adopt-a-family program. These families have
holiday meals, gifts and joyful memories this season
because of the special generosity of this community.
I had the pleasure of helping a Club Mom carry some gifts from my office to hide in the trunk of the car
while her children were busy playing at the Club. She was so grateful and told me that “Without the Club,
her four kids wouldn’t have a Christmas.”
More than 300 people attended our annual holiday party for Club families on Friday, December 9th at
the Cypress Community Center. This event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Cypress with additional
volunteer support by the Cypress High School Interact Club. The guests enjoyed a delicious spaghetti
dinner, made holiday crafts, and watched a performance by the Club’s Dance Team. All children had their
picture taken with Santa and received a wonderful gift. This event created joyful holiday memories for
those who attended as well as those who volunteered to make the event a success.
All of our Club members received support because of the generosity of the Board of Directors, numerous
community members, SeaCoast Grace Church , Bethlehem Lutheran Church, On the Ball Fitness, Target-
Cerritos, Target-Cerritos West, Target-Cypress, Cypress Women’s Club, residents of Cypress Park Senior
Community and Cypress Pointe Community, BikeLand Cypress, Latin Gents Car Club, Dukes Car Club
Orange County, Vans, Soroptimist Cypress, Toys for Tots and Cypress Police Department.
Thank you for helping us to make a difference in
the lives of nearly 1000 children throughout the
year. May your holiday season and the new year be
filled with joy.
Happy holidays!

This year’s event was held Friday, November 4, 2016. Keeping Kids on Track is the Club’s largest fundraiser of the year and this year’s event was our most successful yet, thanks to our generous supporters. The event is held annually and includes a delicious dinner,
exciting live and silent auctions, and a thrilling night of live-action horse racing! The auction is generously supported by our presenting sponsor, the Los Alamitos Race Course.
This year’s gala dinner and auction raised $145,000 to support enriching programs here at the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress. Funds raised will also support the vision of building a Teen Center for our growing teen population who attend the Club.
Thank You to all of Our K e e p i n g K i d s o n T r a c k Supporters!

Page 3 Boys & Girls Club of Cypress
The total number of youth participating in the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress has more than quadrupled in the last eight years. Many of the members who joined during this dramatic period of growth began while they were in early elementary school and are now young teens. We keep teens attending our Club by providing highly-engaging programs and activities that meet the needs of the teens who have been with us for years and we are attracting additional teens who need a place to belong.
We know that today’s teens face tough challenges and our Boys & Girls Club is uniquely positioned to help
t eens thr ough t hos e challenges. Studies indicate, and our experience confirms, that teens are more likely to continue attending when they have dedicated space for their age group. To serve the growing number of teens, in 2016 we are seeking to establish 1,500 square feet of dedicated space to serve the unique needs of middle school and high school members. $120,000 in funding has been secured from Bandai Foundation and we are working with the City of Cypress to establish an appropriate location at Cedar Glen park. The Teen Center will offer STEM workshops as well as a Teen Leadership Academy program with a
focus on career development and applied service activities in partnership with local Junior High and High Schools.
At this years annual gala, our “Fund-A-Need” segment spot-lighted our vision of building a Teen Center for our growing number of teens. With the support of our guests, were able to raise a total of $30,000.
Together we can retain our members after the transition to junior high school and high school. It is because of your generosity that we are able to allocate additional staff, programs, and facility space specifically to teen members at the Club.
