DESCRIPTION

The Abstract Issue. The last twelve months have been mind-blowing and it is with the greatest pleasure that I present to you our fourth digital volume of 2014 entitled 'The Abstract Issue', taking on all things creative, all things colourful, all things avant garde and all things artistic. Pushing contemporary menswear through haunting aesthetics, club scene styling, independent designers, theatrical in-your-face streetwear and the hedonistic/bohemian opulence of the natural world. "The longer you look at an object, the more abstract it becomes, and ironically, the more real." -Lucian Freud

BEYOND THE PAGES

THE ABSTRACT ISSUE.

This is Beyond Man, the bi-monthly, online publication

dedicated to presenting innovative and explosive men' s fashion

' from men in fashion: from Belfast & Beyond' .

The last twelve months have been mind-blowing and it is with

the greatest pleasure that I present to you our fourth digital

volume of 2014 entitled ' The Abstract Issue' , taking on all

things creative, all things colourful, all things avant garde

and all things artistic. Pushing contemporary menswear through

haunting aesthetics, club scene styling, independent designers,

theatrical in-your-face streetwear and the hedonistic/bohemian

opulence of the natural world.

First up we have our cover shoot ANONYMOUS, from one of

Northern Ireland' s leading male fashion photographer' s Mr Lee

Mitchell. Featuring the androgynous and porcelain skinned

Stephen Edgar of Distinct Model Management donning a handful of

Marie-Claire Ferguson' s unique and spectacular millinery, worn

as masks to pretty much cover his wonderful face the entire

time. Sorry Stephen. Don' t feel bad folks, Stephen' s a Beyond

Man alumni, his face has had enough coverage.

In our second editorial CLUB KIDZ, we move from the studio to

the world of hypnotic dance tracks in some enchanting club

scene apparel mixed with an edgy and youthful take on the

partywear trends. Shot by fashion photographer & club snapper

extraordinaire Simon Crawford on location in one of Belfast' s

newest on-trend clubbing hotspots, known simply as BOOMBOX!

Then we come to possibly one of our most exciting and

proudest achievements of 2K14, the launch of our very own

unisex capsule collection entitled FAUXIALITE. Inspired by

those who know fashion, who live by fashion and aren' t the

celebrity style culture fanboys and fangirls who understand

j ack shit. A collection for the models, for the bloggers, for

the photographers and the die-hard front rowers. Captured

perfectly by BigBad Llama, an avid independent label wearer

from head to toe, shooting CMPR' s latest signing Aoife Malone

(blogger, model & garment customiser) alongside new face John

McDowell to produce a creative story of confidence and style

arrogance. #Fauxialite.

Speaking of creatives, we also have not one but two

phenomenal editorials from super stylist Jamie Russell on

another Lee Mitchell assist for the psychedelic SHINE,

complete with PVA glitter glue ensembles, glitter infused

hair spray and glitter soaked facials. Closing with WHERE THE

WILD THINGS ARE, as the prestigious and esteemed Glenn

Norwood of Norwood Photography brings Jamie' s ' haute culture'

bespoke, couture floral garments to life with the help of

London Collections model Gary Talbot and Pray for Paris

postergirl Nerissa Moore.

Basically The Abstract Issue is all about the artistic

photography and the stylists/designers/photographers who help

create it. Special thanks must also go out to the incredibly

inspiring Jonathan McKelvey of Uber Hair who manufactures the

art of hair on every occassion and celebrated MUA' s Rebecca

Bryson & Tippy Logronio for their flawless talents.

real. " -Lucian Freud
