He raises the question whether America granted us economic freedom (surely not with the strings attached to the granting of "independence.")Hernando Abaya makes us aware of the support our ruling elite gets from America since independence to continue its socioeconomic-political control over our country, national institutions and people; which continues to this day and will continue to the foreseeable future, partly because of massive ignorance of historical facts, as exposed in this book published 63 years ago!
