In a strong current, swim parallel to the shore. Swim toward the shore when the current lessens.
Never dive into water unless you know it is at least 9 feet deep and free of obstacles.
HIKING AND CAMPING SAFETY
Before you go hiking or camping, you should:
• Check the weather forecast and take the necessary clothing and equipment.
• Let an adult know where you will be going and when you plan to return.
