Dear Parent/Carer,

Please find attached the current risk assessment to support school re-opening that will continue to be updated with all new and emerging guidance, the updated versions will be sent to you. In addition to the risk assessment we have updated our behaviour and safeguarding policies to include specific COVD – 19 government guidance, please see links below:

School will commence with an induction week with the following schedule to enable a safe, phased return to school that takes into account the wider local community and travel on public transport at peak times for students and staff alike.

*Beacon Communication School (BCS) students are following a separate timetable as they are contained in their own separate bubble.
During induction week all students will be set and sent work to ensure a smooth transition to the new term.
Following induction week we need to maintain a flexible approach that will ensure continuity of learning. To this end we have an induction week and a 3 plan timetable model (this incorporates Plan B, C and our normal timetable) which will enable us to open fully as soon as possible. Our plan evolved during the summer term and wider opening and takes into account:
DfE school re-opening guidance
Social distancing guidelines
Risk assessment
Our school context
Size of school
The needs of BCS
Staff safety
Wider community implications
Travel to and from school avoiding rush hour
Quality of Education and curriculum entitlement
We will begin our autumn term with Plan B, the timetable is based upon the assumption that we need a flexible model of curriculum delivery, please see timings and sessions below.
In summary:
o Blended learning which ensures each student receives 100% 2 week timetable through a
combined face to face and virtual approach,

We will begin the autumn term with Plan B model in place with the flexibility and intention to switch to Plan C once confirmed we have the capacity and staffing and it is safe to do so. Our ultimate aim (and hope) is that we are able to revert to our normal (Plan A) timetable including lunch and extra-curricular activities as soon as possible. In the meantime we believe the above will enable us to incrementally achieve that goal safely.
If your child is in Years 7 or 8 and you require support with childcare during induction week and the subsequent Plan B timetable, please email admin@bealhighschool.co.uk
Please find attached your child’s individual timetable for Plan B, for the week beginning Monday 14th
September. Staff will go through the timetable in detail with their students during induction.
Lessons scheduled face to face in school have a room number and teacher, any lesson marked ‘virtual learning’ is
expected to be completed at home at the time scheduled. Your option subjects A/B/C/D scheduled as ‘virtual
learning’ will be confirmed on induction day.
In addition to the above we will be offering:
Additional maths and English classes at no charge after school and Saturday mornings
