BALKANIA is an association for Balkan Alternative tourism which consists of

8 member countries from the Balkans and Italy and its objective is to work

on projects from the domain of tourism in order to promote the entire

Balkan region as a tourist destination.

Pokraj toa Balkanija ima za cel vo o~ite na svetskata javnost da go vrati pozitivniot imix i da go promovira golemoto prirodno, istorisko , kulturno i antropolo{ko nasledstvo.

In addition, its purpose is to restore the positive image of the Balkans in the public eye and promote its exceptional natural, historical, cultural and anthropological heritage.

Balkanija zvu~i kako ime na земја , шto e i edna od celite na proektот - da se kreira virtuelna geografska oblast koja gi vklu~uva teritoriite i regionite koi denes se identifikuvaat so poimot BALKAN.

The name of the association, BALKANIA, sounds like a name of a nation, which is also one of the objectives of the project as a whole, and that is to create a virtual geographic region that includes the territories and regions which are today identified with the concept the BALKANS.

The efforts of the association are aimed at channelling its energy to all forms

that are the alternative to mass tourism, and which are in terms of the

development of macro sectors identified as natural tourism, rural tourism and

cultural tourism.

The organization of the Forum on Alternative Tourism in the Balkans in Skopje

is one of the association’s activities aimed at the strengthening of the
