Surely the greatest of all Romantic ballets, Swan Lake is aperfect synthesis of choreography and music. Increating this production, Anthony Dowell aimed toreturn to an authentic version of the choreographycreated by the great Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov forthe Mariinsky Theatre in 1895. The court scenes of Acts Iand III have a dark glamour rooted in the opulent style ofCarl Faberge, while the famous lakeside ‘white' acts arerich with mist, shadow and moonlight.

Starring Zenaida Yanowsky and Nehemiah Kish.

Yn ddiau'r bale rhamantus fwyaf oll, mae Swan Lake yngyfosodiad perffaith o goreograffi a cherddoriaeth. Er niwnaeth Tchaikovsky fyw i weld y gwaith yn llwyddo, mae eisgôr bale cyntaf erbyn hyn yn gyfystyr â bale ei hun, ganysbrydoli cenhedloedd o ddawnswyr a chroesi drosodd iddiwylliant poblogaidd.
