Lost Property
If you know your child is missing a jumper, hat, lunch box or some other
item from school, please could you take the time to check our lost
property before the end of the term. Any unnamed items will be bagged
up and donated to charity at the end of the year.
Peer Mediation
Today is the last day of the Peer Mediation Training for our Year 5
students, provided by Mr Greg Twite. This year’s program has been a
huge hit with the students and ‘mingle, mingle, mingle’ always gets a
mention. We would like to thank Mr Twite for his efforts in supporting
the students and upskilling them in dealing with and managing simple
conflict situations. We look forward to seeing how the students will
embrace their new roles next year.

I can’t quite believe there are only 9 school days left after today and only
17 days until Christmas! I hope that everyone has managed to get some
Christmas shopping done before the mad rush over the next few weeks….
I know there are a lot of excited children at school who can’t wait for a visit
from Santa. This term has also proved to be yet another busy one, with lots
of exciting things happening, both in classrooms and as part of the wider
community.
Student Work Celebration Evening
As Nathan mentioned last week, a reminder to parents to please keep next
Wednesday 13th December free for our Open Classroom Evening. This is
a great opportunity for students to showcase some of the wonderful work
they have created this year and celebrate their achievements. We look
forward to seeing you there.
Christmas Tree Orders
A BIG thank you to our families who purchased a Christmas tree this year
and were able to stay flexible given the weather warning last weekend. We
would especially like to thank Burra Garden Supplies for collecting the
trees for us and delivering them to school. Without their help, we would not
be able to provide this festive service. Thank you!

Assistant Principal’s Report
Semester Reports
As Nathan mentioned last week, this year we are aiming to have
reports ready for parents a week earlier than previous years.
Reports are expected to be live on Compass by Friday the 15th
December. Please be aware that we have a very rigorous editing
process where the reports are checked and re-checked to overcome
any errors; however it is quite possible that some errors may have
slipped through the safety net. If there are such mistakes on your
child’s report please let the class teacher know, or alert either Mr
Pirouet or myself through the office, and we will arrange for a reprint.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their
hard work in compiling and writing these reports. It is a very
demanding part of teachers’ duties that takes a lot of time. Families
that would like a printed report please let Betty or Annie know at the
front office and this can be arranged.
(Continued from page 1) 2018 Student Leaders
The first stage of our Student Leadership process is complete and
we are looking forward to interviewing successful candidates next
week. For those students, their interview will take place on either
Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Students have been
encouraged to work on their brag books over the weekend and
ready themselves for Monday. It was a particularly difficult decision
to shortlist students from over 50 applicants. I spoke with the Year
5’s yesterday afternoon and commended them all on their fantastic
applications, they really were outstanding this year. Students were
also reminded that although they may be disappointed not to receive
an interview, they are still leaders in many ways and hopefully the
application process has already given them an experience that will
add to their life skills.

It’s officially summer and the senior building is a-buzz! The Year Fives are well and truly preparing to become leaders of this school with Peer Mediation training with Greg Twite, taking over running Action Stations from the Year Sixes, as well as writing applications and delivering speeches for 2018 leadership positions. They have huge shoes to fill so we wish them luck, although from all reports the Year Fives are
taking on the responsibilities excellently.
In other news, all Fives and Sixes are ensconced in the Earn and Learn program. Many students have developed their own businesses and are busy preparing for our Market Day/Evening, taking place on Wednesday the 13th of December in the senior building. The afternoon session at school will see all businesses up and running, and in the evening parents can come and see their child’s contribution to their country. The Market Day has taken the place of the portfolio evening, with students keen to showcase their economic prowess and contribute to the fully functioning economy of their country. The leaders of Pezzmanistan (KP6), Besleslovakia (NB6), It-Tilly (TH5), Abbauatu (CA5) and PDRG (GE5) are very
excited to attend.
Next Friday the 15th of December, students are excited to see the movie “Wonder” at Stadium 4 Cinemas in Leongatha. Many of the senior classes have read the book that follows the life of a disabled child and all the challenges he faces. Parent helpers are needed and encouraged to contact their teachers if they
are able to attend. Forms and money are due back today Friday the 8th.
As we get closer to the end of the year, Year 6 students have been warming their vocal chords and practising their dancing in preparation for graduation. It is vital that students are at school EVERY day to
practise.
There is a real buzz around the senior school at the moment. Christmas holidays are coming and we are
all excited!

MORNING TEA Thursday 14th December
11.00 a.m.
Dear Parents/Volunteers
We wish to invite you to attend our Parent Helper / Volunteers’ Morning Tea, to be held on Thursday,14th December at 11.00 a.m. in the Library.
This morning tea is held so that our staff can say “thank you” for all your help during the last 12 months. We are very fortunate to have so many parents and volunteers who help out in so many ways. Without your help, it would not be possible to run a number of our programs.
