ELEVATOR UPDATE “Greetings! We’ve received word that the elevator installers have completed their work and the elevator equipment is ready for its final inspection from the state elevator inspector. Following that will come final inspections from the fire marshal and city building official. I’m hopeful we’ll be able to schedule the elevator inspector’s review within the next couple of weeks. FROM THE PASTOR: ELEVATOR
I was excited to receive Glenn Schnaidt’s elevator update. I
had received word from our contractor that things were
moving along. With the help of Fr. Nguyen and the staff, we
were able to make some needed last-minute changes to make the elevator lobbies look quite nice.
Just the other day there was a visitor who really could
have used the elevator, as such, I am so thankful that the construction part of the project is almost completed. The
plan is to dedicate and bless the elevator the weekend of the
Ascension. We will begin to ascend in the new elevator on the day the Lord ascended to the right hand of God the
Father.
In the next weeks we will talk about the financial costs of the new elevator and have the opportunity to make a
commitment to being financial collaborators in the project. I invite us to take some time to pray about it. A little testimony
and something to consider: Last year, I was touched when a
family of modest income at my last parish generously used their tax return to buy TVs for the classrooms for
catechesis. They saw a need and responded. It was a real
blessing to the parish and an heroic example of sacrificial giving. Every parish has similar stories of generous giving,
and I trust the Lord will provide for all our needs as well. Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta used to say, “God has
lots of money; it’s just in other people’s hands.”
The seed money for our project came from two such generous donors. One donor anonymously gave about
$60,000 dollars for a parish elevator and a second
parishioner, Pat Le Marte, left a generous bequest—a donation in her will—of about $190,000.
Thankfully, the contractors at Riverwood Construction are
looking to come in pretty close to their bid. We expanded the elevator project to include a remodel of the boiler room for
better storage and easier access. With that addition, the
architect designs, city permits, and independent safety inspections the final cost of the project will be close to
$380,000. It means we will want to raise about $130,000 to cover the costs and make funds available for future ministry.
Thank you for your prayers and support throughout the
project, and I look forward to this next phase of fundraising.
Easter blessings to you in Christ Jesus,
Fr. Jaspers

inspeccionado y pronto podemos empezar a usarlo.
Padre Jaspers
