What Happened

Summary:This was the first genocide, 2 million armenians living in Turkey were eliminated from their homeland, and they were forced deportations and massacres.

Who did it?

The people who killed millions of armenians were the turkish people.

When did this all happened

This tragedy happened between 1894-1896.

Where did it all happened?

It happened in armenian villages and places were the turkish people allowed the armenians to live just to kill them.

● Young armenians began to press for political reforms.

● Armenians had pride and cultural identity that was never wavered no matter what happened.

● There empire was backward and bankrupt.

Motives (reasons)

The ottoman empire was in serious decline, they had a discriminatory system and they wanted to get rid of the armenian population.

The armenians were not accepted and they were a target to the turkish people.

Survival Tactics

The armenians had fought for their religion, nationality, and their land.They survived the turkish people attempted to wipe the armenians off the earth.

Death Tolls/Casualties

Because of this tragedy over 2 million armenians were murdered.

Response of Other countries/ How it could have been preventedThe western respond by issuing a warning to Turkey, but the warning ended up having no effect. They probably could have prevented this by doing more then sending out ONE warning, what's one warning going to do they should have done more action.

Effects on perpetrator, victims, and families/Country today?

In September 21, 1991 Armenia gained its independence

It is actually illegal to talk about the genocide in Turkey and most would call this event a genocide.
