Welcome to Central Baptist Church!
Summertime is here and we are thankful for everyone attending today. If you are visiting Central Baptist Church for the first time, we encourage you to complete the Registration Card in your Welcome Folder that one of our ushers will give to you, and place it in the offering plate so that it can be given to our Pastor. He and his wife, Donna, will be greeting everyone in the North Lobby following the service this morning. We trust that you will have a meaningful, spiritual experience.

The Marks of God's Family
Text: I John 5:11-13 Did you know that all true believers possess certain marks that set them apart from the rest of humanity. They appear when we are saved and they mark us as children of God. As you read this text, John is trying to tell us that there are some things we can know (39 times in the book). One of them is whether or not we are saved. Consider these four marks— I. A Spiritual _______________ (vs. 1) “believes”
The Promises of God The Principles of Scripture
II. A Spiritual ________________ (vs. 6-7) “walk in the light”
A Desire for Fellowship with things of the Light A Desire to do the things God commands us to do A Desire to be righteous A Desire to live free from sin A Desire to receive the Word of God
III. A Spiritual
_________________ (vs. 9-11) “loveth the brethren”
Fellowship and worship with other believers Welfare of other brethren Concern if we offend the brethren Reconciliation with the brethren
IV. A Spiritual _________________ (4:13) “and He in us” If you lack one of the marks of the true, you need to examine
Finding What You Follow
Proverbs 21:21, “He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.” When he finished his second term as president, Theodore Roosevelt took his son Kermit and set out on a expedition to Africa. An avid hunter, Roosevelt went with the aim of collecting specimens of African wild ani-mals to be displayed at the Smithsonian Institution. The expe-dition was a major event, involving more than 250 ports and guides. Updates of the journey were sent to newspapers around the world so readers could follow the advents of the former President By the time the trip was over, Roosevelt and his son had shot more than five hundred big game animals, including seventeen lions, eleven elephants, and twenty rhinoceroses. All of Roosevelt’s skills as a hunter and the knowledge and training of his guides would have been for naught if he had gone on his hunt in Kansas. There are no wild lions, elephants, or rhinos there. Likewise, for you and me to get the results that we want, we must chart and follow a course that leads to the destination we desire. Many people today are following paths that lead to ruin and destruction, while at the same time hoping for good results. That approach is doomed to failure. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” The success or failure of your life is not determined by the destination you want to reach, but rather by the destination toward which you set your course. You will find what you follow. The key to a life that is pleasing to God and successful in His sight is following those things which matter to Him. The destination that you reach in the future is determined by the paths you take today.
