Any Views On HIMO In Our Area? We through that this might be of interest to local residents and have chosen to put his in the Focus on behalf of the Coventry Campaign For Sustainable Communities: There has been an enormous rise in the number of HMOs (houses of multiple occupation) in Coventry and in some parts of the City this is presenting problems. The increase is largely (though not exclusively) caused by the growth of the two universities and any areas within striking distance of either of them are likely to be affected now or in the future. As part of an information gathering exercise on this issue the Council is asking for the experiences and views (good or not so good) of local residents. If you have anything you would like to pass on then now's your chance. You might want to relate to any aspect of the situation - personal (noise, behaviour, neighbourliness, local facilities etc), social (the effect on the neighbourhood , the housing stock and the overall environment of absentee landlords, letting Agencies and a temporary and transient sector of the local community) or strategic (the effect of the rise in rented accommodation on the current and future nature of the city and its facilities). If you feel you have anything to say in the debate on these particular matters or other any related issue please e-mail your contribution (making clear that it is coming from the Cheylesmore, Whitley or Stonehouse Estate) to The Coventry Campaign for Sustainable Communities via mooregeorge@sky.com
The next Cheylesmore Neighbourhood Ward Forum will be on Tuesday July 16th at The Cheylesmore Community Centre at the usual time of 7pm. The Agenda items have not been set at the time of going to print.

On Saturday 1st June, Whitley Community Centre hosted
their first ever Big Lunch. The weather was fine which
brought a host of people along to the event, and Deputy
Mayoress Hazel Noonan, along with her son Christopher,
officially declared the “Big Lunch” open. There were many activities to enjoy, including sheep, which
were very popular with the children, and planting, where
everyone could get their hands dirty potting strawberries.
There was also a bouncy castle, face painting, a healthy eating
demonstration by the local Slimming World class and local
Guides and Brownies had a stall along with St James Church.
Whitley Local History Group came with lots of information and
slides on Whitley of old and Tiny Teddies staff painted many
faces. Food was a- plenty with lots to choose from. Not to
mention the cake and jam-making competition. Local
businesses donated prizes for our competition and we thank
Virgin Active, Belles Florist, Ground work Trust and Greggs in
for their generous support. Local events are and important in bringing us all together and
they gain popularity every year, but need your support to help
them continue. Please come along next year and help make The
Big Lunch an even Bigger and Better success.
