In The Name Of ALLAH
Angiography By: M.Abid (EE-01083-250) Irfan-ullah(EE-01083-247)
AngiographyThe term “angiography” is composed of two
part:angeion : vessel(artery, vein etc )graphy : record•Angiography(arteriography)is a medical
technique to diagnose or healing of the arteriosclerosis or other cardiovascular disease
•Two important procedure of angiography is catheter angiography & angioplasty
AngiographyAn angiograhy is also called arteriogram, is
an invasive diagnostic test that uses X-RAYS to take pictures of your blood vessels.
A long flexible catheter is inserted through the blood stream to deliver dye (contrast agent) into the arteries making them visible on the X-RAYS.
This test helps to diagnose the stroke, tumor, clots and arterial stenosis.
AngiographyAngiography was first performed by a
Portuguese physician whose name was “Egas Moniz”
It was done in 1927.
AngiographyAn angiogram uses a radiopaque (radiation
can‟t pass through it) substance, or dye, to make the blood vessels visible under x ray. this substance is named as “contrast media” .
X-ray is not able to move across contrast media so it makes shadow in the image and if the vessel have stenosis (being narrow) , it will be seen.
In angiography , we take a lot of picture per a second ,so we have a data like movie.
Angiographyto look at the left side of the heart and the
arterial system we use the femoral arteryto look at the right side of the heart and the
venous system we use the jugular or femoral vein
in order to diagnose the problem by cardiologist ,The final data will copy on CD

Angiography
AngiographyThere are several type of angiography that
can be performed for different organs and by different technique but here, we discuss about catheter angiography and angioplasty.
For example there are micro angiography, neurovascular angiography and peripheral angiography.
Coronary catheterizationIt is a diagnostic testWe can diagnose cardiac disease through ita physician guides a small tube-like device
called a catheter, typically ~2.0mm in diameter, through the large arteries of the body until the tip is just within the opening of one of the coronary arteries
blood pressures are monitored through the catheter to verify that the catheter does not block blood flow
Catheterdesigned to be radiodense for visibility
through vesselsBy it, we can inject the contrast mediaHas a sensor for monitor the blood pressure
Catheter
Catheter
AngioplastyIt is a therapeutic procedureBy this, we can prevent the heart attach in
result of artheriosclerosisWe insert a stent and a balloon by catheterStent is extended by balloon in the place of
stenosisExtension of stent keep the blood open
How does angioplasty done?
Catheter and balloon
Please don,t be cardiac patient…
Thank you
