❑Often results in temporary dip in GPA during their transitional first or second semesters.❑ This is normal and most transfer students recover their grades within a semester or two.
Transfer Transitions
❑Community Colleges v. four-year institutions❑Size❑Part-time v. Full-time❑Location of housing (commuting)❑Culture shift❑Disciplinary focus and identity❑So, why Upper Division GE?

Transfer Connection Courses can help…
– Students meet other students and learn more about Chico and Chico State
– Virtual meet ups provide more of a “college experience”
– No extra work or classes, these are classes you need to take to graduate and students tend to get higher grades in these sections and enjoy them more
– Virtual meetups mean that you are ahead of the game when we come back in person, you’ve met people and gotten to know Chico and Campus
– Virtual meetups will help you to get to know services on campus that will help you be more successful
– Virtual meetups will help you explore your major and career interests and how your UD pathway courses intersect with your major and help you with your career
– Peer Mentors lead meetups…so you have an older student to help you navigate the first semester, which will REALLY be helpful in this virtual environment…your own “big buddy”
– Students may feel like they want to wait. There are no connection courses in spring. Their first semester is the only time they can take them…AND they provide an extended orientation to campus and Chico…
