DearMembers

ThiswillbemylastreportfromthedeskoftheEditorinChiefaswewillnowhaveachange.IwelcomeDrImranMajidwhowillnowtakeoverthereinsofthejournal.

It has been an exhilarating journey with JCAS, at times exhausting and at timesperplexing.Exhilaratingbecauseofthechallengetomaintainahighquality, exhaustingbecauseofthemanyissuesthatareinvolvedinrunningthejournalandperplexing

becauseofthemanyethicalissues,particularlyplagiarismthatanEditorinChiefhastoface.

Thechariotofthejournalissupportedbyfourimportantwheels.ThefirstaretheAssociateeditorsandAssistanteditors,withoutwhomthetaskofrunningthejournalwouldnotbepossible.Thesecondaretheadvisoryboardandtheombudsman,DrSubrataMalakarthatstepinwheninneed.Thethirdaretheauthorswhocontributetheirpreciousworktothejournal.Inmyperception,thefourthandmostvaluablewheel are the reviewers who give their time and energy selflessly in improving the quality of themanuscripts.Iamdeeplyindebtedtoallmyfourwheelsthatmadethejourneysmooth.

WecouldintroducenewsectionslikeInnovationthatencouragenewthinking,Bridgingthegapthatpublished articles from other specialities , which were relevant to dermatology, Viewpoint oncontroversialissuesandfacilityforvideosubmissionsandviewing, whichgreatlyenhancesthelearningqualityofthearticle.JCASwasalso linkedtothejournal,PlasticandReconstructiveSurgeryGlobalOpen® which is an open access, peer reviewed, international journal focusing on global plastic andreconstructivesurgery.

Therehavebeenlimitations,attimesweweredelayedandattimesprocessingandpeerreviewingwerenotasquickaswewouldhaveliked.AnotherlimitationisgeneratinggoodrevenuefortheAssociation,whichitcouldnotaccomplish. IapologizeforthisandIamsuremysuccessorwillbeabletoovercometheselimitations.

IwishDrImranMajidandhisteamallsuccessinthischallengingandexhilaratingjourney.

WithimmensepleasureItaketheopportunitytosharemyexperienceswithDrNitiKhungerduringmyonemonthfellowshiptraininginDermatosurgeryinSafdarjungHospital.Letmebeginfromwhereitallstarted.Iwasonanextended maternity leave and wanted to brush up my skills when I gotacceptedinthisfellowshipbyACSI.

IwasverynervousandapprehensivewhenIfirstmetDrNitiforsheisoneofthefinestcutaneoussurgeonsinthecountrywhileontheotherhand;Ihad

little experience in dermatosurgery. But to my surprise I found in her a very humble andgrounded human being. She made me comfortable and calmed my nerves. This was thesteppingstoneforanacademicallyenrichingmonththatwastofollow.

I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, compassionate towards her patients andhardworking.Herconcernforherpatientswasevenaboveherownselfandthiswasveryheartwarming. She is extremely diligent, has extraordinary surgical skills and tries newerapproachesforprovidingmaximumcosmeticbenefitstoherpatients.Itwasanhonourtolearnunderherguidance.Sheisalsocheerfulandhasthebestinterestsofherpatientsandherstudents(bothPGsandfellows)inherheartwhichmakeherawonderfulpersontolearnfrom.

DuringmytrainingIwasfortunatetoseeavarietyofproceduresincludingvitiligosurgeries(non culture epidermal cell suspension, STS graft.), sclerotherapy , microneedling ,dermabrasionandscarrevisionsurgeries(includingfattransplant).
