1 Peter 2:1-3

Therefore… because of these…

v.3- born again v.4- reserved in heaven

v.8- because you love, believe, glorify

v.13- hope coming at revelation of Jesus

v.17- address God as your Father

v.19- redeemed with precious blood

v.22- purified your souls in obedience

PUTTING ASIDE…cast off, lay apart, put away

ALL malice - ill will, desire to injure ALL guile - lit. decoy, deceit, trick hypocrisy - acting a feigned part Envy - ill will from jealousy, spite ALL slander - evil speaking,

backbiting

But, This is not Enough…

James 1:21; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

James 1:21

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains

of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted,

which is able to save your souls.

Galatians 5:19-21

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality,

impurity, sensuality,20. idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy,

outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,21. envying,

drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have

forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the

kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,

nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,10. nor thieves,

nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor

swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

Luke 11:24-26

"When the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless

places seeking rest, and not finding any, it says, `I will return to my

house from which I came.'25. "And when it comes, it finds it swept and

put in order.26. "Then it goes and takes along seven other spirits more

evil than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first."
