Synthetic Intermediates for 2-Aminoimidazole Alkaloids. — In contrast to the pre-viously reported reaction of 2-haloketones with acetylguanidine the reaction of (I) with alkoxycarbonyl guanidines unexpectedly yields ring acylated imidazoles (III).
