•Proper noun:These nouns refers to specific or particular persons, places, or things. They begin with

capital letter.Examples: Pope John Paul II, Maria, The Predator(movie), Master showman ( T.V. program)

•Common nounThese are the names of persons, things, and

places in general.

Examples: book, friend, actress, bag

Determine whether each noun is a common noun or a proper noun.

● If the noun is common, write “common noun” on the line.

• Abstract nounNames of ideas, feelings, qualities and emotions. They refer to matters that don’t exist in the physical world, but known through the effects they create.

Examples: love, intelligence, patience

•Concrete nounThese are nouns that appeal to one’s sense; they

refer to object that exist in the physical world.

Example: building, dogs, chairs

•Count nounWords that refers to things that can be counted; they can be made in plural by adding “s” to their

end parts.

•Mass noun

These refer to things that cannot be counted. Those nouns do not have plural equivalents. They

can be quantified, nevertheless, by the use of counters or unit of measure which can be

pluralized.
