SNOWBOARDING

SNOW BOARDING Snow boarding is probably the most popular mountain sport to the day. It links to skateboarding, ripstick, sand boarding and surfing.

History; The first snowboard was invented about 100 years ago. It was called a monoski. It was literally 2 skis joined Together to make 1. The first actual snowboard was astand up sledge with no bindings, this made it veryhard to stand; these boards were called snurfers.

SNOW BOARDING TO THE DAYNowadays snowboarders use boards like these:

These now consist of bindings and a grip in the middle of the board forgetting of ski lifts.

Types of Snowboarding:

Free riding is when a snowboarder goes wherever he/she wants to go. Riding on powder snow, jumping of cliffs and zooming down steep slopes.

JIBBING AND FREESTYLE

Jibbing is when a boarder does skateboarding and other street boarding tricks; such as ramps, trees, tables, benches and jumps.

The thing is sometimes snowboarders spend more time on the ramps than the snow!!!

Freestyle snowboarders do the same tricks as skateboarders except on mostly snow eg: half pipe, ramps and jumps. Next page

A 360˚ is when a boarder does a full turn in the air. A McTwist is when a boarder does 1.5 spins in the air.A backwards 1440 (four full rotations)A double corked 1080-three full rotations spun like a corkscrew!!!
