DESCRIPTION
This program illustrates the use of imagery analysis in Cultural Resource Management. Specifically spotlighting its use in the Cultural Resource Study of the former La Junta Army Air Field complex, from its carnival like origins advertising $5 dollar rides, through its growth as one of the pre emanate multi-engine flight training air fields of WW-2 along with its co-located state of the art electronic aerial navigation systems. We will explore the techniques of utilizing satellite imagery, aerial and hand held photography in change detection, object oriented & open source study, and analysis. Summation will include examples of current ongoing studies and suggested future projects open for study. The importance of this program is to encourage the wider use of imagery analysis and its integration in the analytical fields of Anthropology, Archaeology and History; and the management of cultural resources.
