In support to DA'sGinintuang MasaganangA n i o n H i g h Va l u eCommercial Crops (GMA-HVCC) Prog ram, theProvincial Governmentimplemented the Programon Fruit Tree Productionknown as Program onReform and Utilization ofTrees in Agusan del Sur(P.RU.T.A.S.) to focusp r i m a r i l y o n t h eenhancement of fruit treeproduction in the provincethrough provision of fruit treeseedlings and technologytrainings to qualified farmer-recipients. Supervision inthe establishment of orchardplantation has been givenpriority to ensure highsurvival of the plantingm a t e r i a l s . P e r i o d i cmon i to r i ng has beenmaintained for properguidance in care andmaintenance of the orchard.This was funded under 20%Provincial DevelopmentFund and of the regularfunds of the office. TheRegional Field Unit-XIII oft h e D e p a r t m e n t o fAgriculture also providedfunds through its CaragaIntegrated DevelopmentProgram (CIDP).

The program has distributed 19,633 plantingmaterials with an aggregate area of 92.189 hectaresserving a total of 393 farmer-beneficiaries. Priority plantingmaterials distributed are Durian, Rambutan, Lanzones andMangosteen. The scion grove located in Pagkain ngBayan, Bayugan 1, has been maintained to support theProvincial Nursery and Municipal Nursery as well as privatenurseries throughout the province.
