The Red Rock 4-Wheelers maintain a mailing list to distribute information on the Easter Jeep Safari and the Labor Day Camp-Out. We get our information from registration forms for each event and from inquiries directed to our club or referred from the Moab Chamber of Commerce
or the Grand County Travel Council (Visitor Centers). The current list goes back to 1984 events, when careful record keeping began. We keep all the names but we limit mailing to those we have heard from in recent years. If you are to receive future mailings, the following points must be observed.
1. The name and address on your registration must be legible and complete. (And please don’t shift back and forth between home and business addresses; it confuses our typist.)
2. Register with your own mailing address even if you are part of a group; confirmations will be sent to your group leader anyway, and your registration address is where your 2009 information will be sent.
3. The address must be your current mailing address. Most of our mailings use “bulk
mail,” which is not forwarded. Bulk mail, now called “Standard Mail,” saves us money, but part of the bargain is that the mail is moved at a lower priority than First Class, and is destroyed if it can’t be delivered as addressed. This should explain the “or current occupant” on most mailing labels; the addition of that line on the address allows the paper to be delivered to someone instead of going straight into the trash.
4. We need to know that you’re still interested. A mailing list can be cluttered with people who have moved and haven’t told us, or who don’t care anymore. We have dropped a few hundred names of people we haven’t heard from since 2004. We tried to verify addresses last summer by requesting address corrections from the Post Office when we mailed our Labor
Day Camp-Out flyer. 5. We have to avoid “typos” and other goofs
that can make your address incorrect. Let us know of any problems so we have the chance to do something about it. This year, we will send (First Class) a confirmation for your registration. If you don’t get the confirmation by 12 days after the lottery drawing or your mailing date, whichever is later, please contact us again.
