The Garden of Love Towards the Origin

Dominique Sciamma Director, Development & Research – Strate Collège

Florent Aziosmanoff Creation Director – le Cube

At the beginning was the Object…

…Magic

And the Object became…

…Useful

Then the object became…

…Reproductible

Before becoming…

…Connected

And eventually becomes…

…MAGIC (but trully this time)

Robjects: Tomorrow our pears !

•  « Living Objects » will watch our lives

•  « Living Objects » will serve our lives

•  « Living Objects » will care for us

•  « Living Objects » will become Loving Objects

From Interaction Design Dto Relationship Design!

The Garden of Love

The Concept

•  A bench, a street light, a dustbin, perceiving their environment, having behaviors and in relation with each other and with their human environment

•  Reproducing the stakes of Marivaux’s theater (seduction, cheating, treason, manipulation)

•  The garden’s configuration is never the same, depending on the environment

•  Services and existential questionning coexist

Marivaux & robots : the stakes

•  Situations more than characters •  No gender issues in their games •  Importance of desire and libido •  Social situation are more important •  Looking for the « other »

(hurman and robots) •  Importance of social hierarchy

(user > bench -> Light -> Dustbin) •  Services as well as respect are due
