DESCRIPTION
The Woodford shale play is rapidly emerging as one of the major unconventional energy resources throughout the United States of America with companies including Marathon Oil, Devon Energy and Cimarex repeatedly announcing plans to expand drilling rigs and fracture operations in the play. Combined with this are recent production results from Woodford operators such as Osage Exploration, which announced a 123% year on year increase in boe produced in 2014, and Jones Energy which has seen a 28% increase from 2012. With large operators investing and others already seeing returns on production, it has never been more commercially critical to examine how to prolong the production cycles of Woodford wells to ensure the long- term commercial development of the play. Although validating the liquid resource and implementing the correct drilling and completion methods remain important in the Woodford shale play, if production professionals are unable to optimize recovery by using artificial lift techniques and mitigate failures by implementing the correct chemical treatment programs, then progress within the play will become severely limited. With liquid rich areas of the play still emerging and different areas posing unique challenges such as unidentified water and dissimilar reservoir characterizations, it is critical to examine the different ways in which production in the Woodford can be optimized to ensure maximum production rates and low cost operations. Using Best Practice Case Studies To Find Out Which Production Techniques Work Best In Different Areas Of The Woodford The Woodford Production Optimization Congress is the first and only congress designed specifically for production professionals within the Woodford shale play. No one expects a silver bullet to increase production proficiency overnight, but by bringing together VP's, Production Managers, Operations Managers and Artificial Lift Experts from across the play to share case studies and practical solutions on how to maintain the life cycle, optimize recovery rates and reduce costs, this congress will allow significant learning progress to be made and, ultimately, more oil recovered.
