ABOUT WESTLAKE

STATION

Westlake Station station is located at Pine Street in the heart of Westlake Center, Seattle’spremier shopping area. This part of downtown is one of the highest pedestrian and trafficvolume areas in Seattle.

The station is in the ride-free zone and is connected directly to the large, upscale Westlakeshopping mall. It’s also used as a pedestrian underpass for access to additional shopping,including Macy’s and Nordstrom’s flagship store. The station is three short blocks fromSeattle’s famous Pike Place Market.

Transit systems in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel include Sound Transit and King CountyMetro. Ridership is currently about 345,000 per month, not including weekends. Ridership willincrease when Sound Transit light rail trains join the buses in the tunnel. This will occur whenthe 13.9-mile rail line begins operation to Downtown Seattle in July 2009.

Known for it’s distinctive architecture, Pioneer Square station sits in downtown Seattle's oldestneighborhood, the Pioneer District. The station is under busy Third Avenue Avenue betweenCherry Street and Yesler Way and within one block of major government buildings.

The area around the station is popular for it’s art, history, culture and entertainment.Concentrated here are many of Seattle’s bookstores, art galleries, coffee shops andrestaurants. There is a thriving music scene and the bars in the square are very popular for liveperformances.
