Underground park in

ManhattanBy Finnian

What the heck am I talking about?

•Well, recent news has shown that there has been an under ground park proposed for Manhattan. What I mean by “proposing”,is that there is an abandoned subway terminal, and people are saying things like...

•“if you give it to me i will make a parking garage”,and things like that.

Here is what it would look like

it’s pretty cool

here is a summary of whats

happening•An abandoned subway terminal in

New York City is being pitched for redevelopment into a sunlit, subterranean park -- replete with 60,000 square feet of flowers, ponds and trees.

facts•Located in Manhattan's trendy

Lower East Side, the vast underground space -- which is about the size of a football field -- has remained untouched since the terminal was discontinued back in 1948.

•Discontinued means to stop doing something

•Now, a group of entrepreneurs are proposing an elaborate green makeover, in which sunlight would be "harvested" above ground and channeled into the vaults below via a network of fiber-optic cables -- creating an environment apparently filled with natural light and, in theory, ripe for growing all the foliage of a typical city park.

Why is this important?

•There are a few reasons...

•one. Making an underground park in Manhattan is a big leap forward for technology

•two. Because its important to know how much technology has evolved. We could only imagine what kind of technology we would have in 10 years or so.

•three. I also think that in the future we could be living under ground and on the surface of the earth, because we have the basic things mankind needs to survive underground: food, water, oxygen, and sunlight

why else is this important

•If this underground park idea succeeds then we could use the underground idea for other things like...

•growing crops underground because the world is running out of resources and we can’t feed 7 billion people.

•if you are confused about something then now is the time to ask me because now I am taking questions.

thanks for listening
