BACKGROUND

www.farmer.org.in

The percentage of area under sugarcane in different districts varies from 20-72%. There are more than 40 Sugar Mills in this area which canbenefit from the studies conducted by FARMER

FARMER was established in 2002 by the like minded scientists and persons having aptitude of social service,

Agriculture Extension and Research with focus on sugarcane crop and productions

Firstly started in three divisions of Meerut, Moradabad, Saharanpur, comprising of 11 districts of western UP. Sugarcane is a major crop of this region sown on an area of 10.96 lakh hectares out of total cropped area of 24.5 lakh hectares.

FARMER has a goal tobecome self sustainableby providing at costresearch services toSugar Industries andRegistered Farmers withthe FARMER

WHY FARMER ?

TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT – Identification and adoption of appropriate technologyin crop production.

Farm and Crop Management – Selection of appropriate crops and crop rotation as persoil quality and agro climatic conditions.

Input Management – On farm production of quality agri. Inputs and sourcing of inputsfrom market at affordable cost by farmers.

Marketing Linkage – Direct marketing linkage with the consumers through KisaanOutlets in cities and home delivery by Basket Delivery System.

Storage & Processing Management – Proper scientific storage facilities and valueaddition by processing of agri. Produce.

Nutrient Management – Balanced and timely use of major and micro nutrients throughapplication of appropriate quantity of manures, fertilizers and formulations.

Pest Management – Judicious use of pesticides and adoption of other plant protectionmeasures by Intergraded Pest Management approach.
