Let’s Get Ready to Rumble Whenever news focuses on big tech companies, it always seems to be framed as a big compe99on.
Because it is. Of course, as consumers, this is a good thing; when companies fight each other, it means be>er and cheaper products for us. Today, let’s take a look at how one chairman – Eric Schmidt of Google – sees the future corporate ba>lefield developing.
According to Schmidt… “One plaGorm war stands out as the ‘defining fight of the industry today’: the struggle between Apple and Google.”
True story. Apple and Google interact with consumers unlike any other names in the business today. Google has even managed to get itself into the dic9onary – and who could imagine a world without the iPhone or the iPad or iTunes?
Android and iOS Schmidt focused a lot on the current ba>le between the Android opera9ng system and iOS.
Google currently has more users; however, the
iPhone is no slouch. “We’ve not seen compe99ve fights on this scale,” Schmidt was quoted as saying on the Android vs. iOS ba>le. On the recent li9ga9on regarding patents?
What does the future hold? Ul9mately, small businesses suffer when the big companies take on a legal army; it’s good to hear that Schmidt thinks the current tech ba>les are bad for development.
But what about Facebook and Amazon?
It’s easy to imagine a future when all four of these giants bu> heads at different 9mes for different reasons, since they’re so crucial to communica9on and commerce. It will be worth following future interviews to get the lay of the land from the cream of the crop.
