Rule of Thirds

Imagine that your photograph is divided into nine equal squares

Most important elements in the photo should run along these lines

Or be at where the points intersect

Framing Naturally attracts the eye to the center Helps to draw attention to the main

object Focuses image

Cropping

Allow small object to be focal point Reduces things in the background Makes sure the object gets the viewer’s

full attention

Lines

Naturally draws the eyes along the lines Creates a “journey” through a scene

Depth

Depth, is created in a photo byHaving objects in the Foreground, Middle

Ground and BackgroundHaving things overlap in the photo which

creates layers

Symmetry and Patterns

Creates a visually appealing image Breaking a pattern can draw attention
