- 2. You Can Define A Target Audience By Specifying a group of
people that you want to sell your product/service to. Usually a
common interest between the target audiences which is what
categorises genres
- 3. Why is it important for your film to have a target audience
Every film has a purpose, for this aspect (horror) its purpose is
to scare the audience. Therefore it is important to specify your
target audience which fits your films purpose. For the film to be
successful the audience must enjoy the film, but having a target
audience allows you to concentrate on that target audiences
satisfaction.
- 4. Our three sub-genres we have chosen are: Haunted House,
Possession & Zombies.
- 5. Target Audiences Sub-Genre Target Audiences Zombie -Ages
16-40, Above an age which allows you to watch the film without
being too scared -Not too old where the imagination is gone Haunted
House -Ages 14-60, Wider target audience as it is a classic and
stereotypical sub-genre for a horror film. Possession -Ages 18-50,
Seen as a more scarier sub- genre therefore an older audience.

Time Mother I expect something that is jumpy and has a link with
the paranormal. Dan Morgan -Student Rugby Player I think it has to
have ghost coming out with a lot of quick snap shots of paranormal
body figures. Natalia Brown -Law Student I would expect a lot of
jumpy moments with a possessed child as a key horror
figure/character. Ryan Liddle -College Student Something which
involves a lot of shots in the house where most of the activity
will occur. Jevon Davenport -Art Student Something that everyone
can relate to in real life. Something everyone has experiences in

Lawrance Full time worker No Too cheesy and way to many jump scares
Jack Riley year 8 student Yes I love all the jump scenes. Jack

scared in my own home therefore I have sympathy for these

Time Mother I expect a lot of activity to occur in the house,
something similar to the paranormal activity box sets. Dan Morgan

and always having ghost jump out at me. Natalia Brown -Law Student
I would think there is a demonised character disturbing the
equilibrium of a family house hold. Ryan Liddle -College Student A
possessed female child character which makes the majority of her
appearances towards the end of the film. Jevon Davenport -Art
Student I think a stereotypical setting of a house with a happy
family who recognises the presence of the paranormal in a isolated

Usually starts off quite quiet, slow and relaxed and slowly picks
up the suspension with loud bangs and scenes designed to shock you.
Ryan Liddle -College Student Usually there is a neglected spirit
refusing to leave the house due to a traumatised childhoold. Jevon
Davenport -Art Student An incident which happened in a house a
while ago where a human was killed and now wants to avoid anyone

sub-genre are: People who do Not enjoy the haunted horror sub-genre
are: -People above ages 14. -The majority of horror fanatics due to
its sense of realism. -Majority of teenage boys. -More students
tend to like it as oppose to adults. -Children. -People who do not
believe in the paranormal. -People who are too frighten to watch
horrors.

- 17. What we learned from audience feedback We have identified
that our target audiences are teens/ adults (15-40). Mix between
boys and girls like them, however slightly more boys liked it. They
expect a lot of jumpy scenes with the main setting of the film in a
big family house. Most scariest sub-genre as it is seen as most
realistic. Usually a stereo typically demonised character of a
young age disturbing the happy family whom has just moved in. Key
Fear factor is the act of surprise.
