3 IdeasBrief: To design and create a 3D model of an information centre for the

public inspired by constructivism.

1st Idea• My 1st idea was inspired by the

use of squares and rectangles in constructivist and supremacist art.

• I wanted to rotate layers of squares and have the shapes rise to create the illusion of movement within the architecture,

• Another influence was the use of parabolas by Santiago Calatrava, where I tried to incorporate the negative space.

• I made a model to show the twisted form, out of foam board.

• What I would do next would be to exaggerate some more angled forms attached to the design or maybe intersect some long and sharp shapes to contrast against the flow of the design.

2nd Idea• This idea was mainly

influenced the shapes and forms of the sculptures and artwork of Malevich.

• To start my thinking for this idea I cut up some wood blood similar to the shapes used in his paintings.

• The I tried to layer the blocks with a sense of direction.

• These cubic shapes are something I would like to incorporate into my final design.

• What I plan to do next is add to the form by inserting curved cuts and shapes to again contrast, which is inspired by Oskar Schlemmer.

3rd Idea• My 3rd idea is a synthesis

between the last two ideas.• To add to the design I would

look more into artwork by Piero Della Francesca and Oskar Schlemmer, and also look into some traditional Bauhaus architecture which is inspired by constructivism.• What I look to do is contrast

some linear geometrics with cylindrical and spherical forms.
