With our local circles, we are realizing our wishes, often in spite of our environment. This nourishes us, but does not satisfy us. We want to impact our reality as far as we can reach. We want our surroundings to resonate with our being.

villages are the surroundings in which we live and ought to impact. Our environment can largely foster or hinder activities and the concept of Mondial villages emerges as the answer to the question, What is the optimal environment for independent thinkers?

In its most evident form, a village is a self-standing village located in a nourishing natural environment and embedded in a meshwork of supportive social networks. It can be physically felt as a soothing atmosphere. And yet, if we look thoughtfully, we may find a village at work in many places we do not expect them.

The Village- is also a quiet place where meditation teachers of different authentic lineages can hold retreats, and enter into dialogue and collaboration with artist-teachers.

Pangot Woodside Retreat- is also where professional actors, dancers, directors, visual artists, musicians and writers can collaborate on the creation of original plays and dance pieces in a peaceful rural atmosphere. These productions can then be sent out into the world.

As artists ,executives and activists make incessant demands upon themselves and on those with whom they work. The stress that accumulates in the body as a result may be addressed with the healing of Certified practitioners of massage, yoga and meditation that are made available at the Retreat. An Oak wood soaking hot tub nestled among native oaks facilitates the healing.

WALKING IN THE HIMALAYA:

SUSTAINABLE VILLAGE WALKING TOURS

Himalaya - Abode of the Snows - No where on Earth are the mountains as dominant part of the landscape as the mountain range of the Himalayas. Where India butts up against mass of Central Asia, the Himalaya continue to rise at a relatively fast geologic rate. So, every year Mt. Everest gets even higher. Some of the best, in fact perhaps the very best off the beaten trekking of anywhere is to be found here in Uttaranchal (Kumaon). It's great because most people in the mountains have no choice here - they must walk to get from one place to another.

HIMALAYA AND CULTURE

The Himalaya - a living museum - As spectacular as the mountains are, the one thing that makes this place even better is the mountain village culture that still exists in the Kumaon Himalaya.

As you make your way along the Himalaya trails in Kumaon you'll be partaking in a culture that has existed for hundreds of years, or even longer. Some is still uncorrupted by modern Western influences. If you don't know what that means, you will when you go there and enjoy the Himalaya experience. It is, one would say - profound.

TRAILS IN THE HIMALAYA

Trails in the Himalaya - Trails abound everywhere in the Himalaya. From the lowlands where rice grows along with tropical fruits such as strawberries, blue berries, pears, apples and more exotic local specimens. Further up, one runs into the temperate forests. And then in the high country it's rock, ice, snow and wind - the abode of the snows, as it's called.

All of the Himalaya make for an excellent adventure. You'll be in the heart of an area that has been a fertile ground for religions. Hindus tend toward the lower elevations of the Himalayas. Buddhists inhabits the higher areas. Local Muslims live all over, and dominate some areas such as Pakistan. It all makes for a fascinating landscape..
