SABARMATI ASHRAM• Built on the banks of Sabarmati River,
the ashram also known as ‘Gandhi’s Ashram’. It is one of the must-visit places for travellers in Ahmedabad.
• Once an abode of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife, Kasturba Bai, today it houses a museum -‘Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalya’ that displays personal letters and photographs of this legendary man.

JAMA MASJID• Constructed in 1423 AD by Sultan
Ahmed Shah, Jama Masjid, Ahmedabad is a truly beguiling monument built with yellow stones.
• Featuring 260 pillars and 15 domes, this mosque depicts beautiful Hindu-Muslim style architecture as it is made out of the ruins of demolished Hindu and Jain temples.
• It has different entrances. Near its eastern entrance is the tomb of Sultan Ahmed Shah where lays the burial ground of three great rulers – Ahmed Shah I, Mohammed Shah and Qutub-Ud-Din Ahmed Shah II.

• The oldest and most popular city square in Ahmedabad, Manek Chowk is a vegetable market in the morning that transforms into a jewellery market in afternoon.
• However, Manek Chowk is most famous for its tempting food stalls that sprang up every night at 8:30 and stay up till late at night.
• From spicy Indian pani puri to American fast food, blended in Indian style, there are a lot of dishes to savour here, but the three must-haves are Pavbhaji, kulfi and special Amdavadi sandwiches.
• The chowk is named after Baba Maneknath, a saint from the 15th century who opposed Ahmed Shah from building a new capital.
HERITAGE WALK• First commenced 15 years back during
World Heritage Week, Heritage Walk in this walled city is a way of keeping its rich Indian-Islamic culture alive.
• Covering 20 eminent places in between, the walk begins from 19th century Swaminarayan Temple, Kalupur and ends at 15th century Jama Masjid; and so it’s called ‘Journey of Mandir to Masjid’.
• During the walk, you’ll witness interesting structure of ‘Old City’ consisting of the ‘Pols’ which are virtually little villages and contains community wells and Chabutro for birds.

KANKARIA LAKE• Built in 1451 AD by Sultan Qutub-Ud-

AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE• Spread across 23 acres of land,
