In memory of Laura Koehn
My husband’s cousin,
Andy Koehn, lost his
wife to cancer on
Saturday morning. Last
night we attended a
memorial service in
West Bend. Here are
some powerful things
that I learned that will
stick with me for quite
some time…
Even though you can be surrounded by
exquisite diamonds and gemstones, the
most precious jewels you’ll ever hold are
your spouse and your children.
(Andy owns Koehn and Koehn Jewelers in West Bend.)
No matter how busy
you think you are,
take time to “color”
with your children.
You’ll never regret
it.
Look for opportunities to
“make a meatloaf sandwich”
for someone.
“I don’t need a
parade.”
-Laura Koehn
We should focus more
on others than on
ourselves.
Being vulnerable and showing
our emotions isn’t a sign of
weakness. Even Jesus wept at
Lazarus’ tomb.
Be authentic.
Live in the
moment.
But I’m adding to that…
Live in the
moment with an
eye on eternity.
That adds the element of living
for the purpose of glorifying
God in all we do.
It was obvious that Laura was
loved by many, many people.
There are countless examples
of how her life impacted
others. I’m glad I’m among
those who have learned
something from her life. We
will be praying for Andy and
the children, Olivia, Margaret
Mary, Anna, and DJ and all
the extended family and
friends who loved her.
